For all of those observers who had an increasing feeling of numbness from the endless barrage of Tea Party-driven policy debates in this US election season, the sight of 200,000 people showing up in front of Capitol Hill in Washington has had a reinvigorating and outright refreshing effect.
Given the bizarre way some of the political discourse has been spinning out of the orbit of rationality, it actually seems fitting for comedians to take the lead in trying to win back the message from the biased and frenzied fringe, in particular right wing Republicans and the Tea Party movement.
A heartfelt thank you, therefore, to all 200,002 who showed up at the Rally to Restore Sanity in Washington. You showed the nation and the world that there is a very positive, witty and hilarious America out there that has not lost its mojo!
